News: Free Games, Kind Of

In a incredibly surprising move, Activision has made an amazing offer giving away Guitar Hero Van Halen for free with the purchase of Guitar Hero 5. On one hand, it is a mind blowing deal that surpasses anything done before considering that they're giving two games for almost the price of one. Look a little closer and you can see why this is almost required by Activision.

First off, Guitar Hero Van Halen is not going to be a big seller. The Guitar Hero fanbase hasn't been big on these specialty games. Guitar Hero 80s was a huge letdown mainly because of how little difference it was from the other GH games for the same price. Same thing for Guitar Hero Aerosmith which was touted as this big deal, but again, very lackluster. Then you have the positive aspect of this whole deal. Mainly, two GH games means a much greater possibility of DLC songs which has proven to be good money for the series. It all makes sense, it's a gamble, but makes sense.

Details to the official offer can be seen HERE.

Then we have a total publicity stunt but is a legit offer. Raven Software, makers of the new Wolfenstein games, has made an offer to pay for your copy of Wolfenstein. The catch? Wolfenstein will have to outsell Madden 10 in August. Sounds impossible? You're damn right but it'll be fun to see it happen.
